In total, the UNWTO recorded 1.5\nbillion international tourist arrivals in 2019. Various prevention or mitigation measures can be put\nin place to better manage a problematic influx, such as focusing on the quality\nof the experiences offered rather than on the number of visitors, better\nunderstanding citizen concerns and ensuring positive spinoffs, and improving\nlocal planning and management practices for tourism activity.
