The 14 actors\ngathered within the CAT draw an alarming balance sheet: cancellation, image of\nFrance damaged, and drop in bookings. \u00abAll tourism activities have been\nhit hard; a whole sector has been seriously weakened,\u00bb says the CAT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 14 players represented within\nthe confederation warn of the \u00abheavy consequences\u00bb of the strike in\nParis, Ile-de-France and the surrounding area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>regions, i.e. cancellations of\ntourist trips (transport, hotel, travel in France and abroad) and professional\nevents, seminars, shows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They also note \u00abdisruptions in\nthe organisation of road passenger transport services\u00bb, a drop in\n\u00abrestaurant attendance of 50% on average\u00bb and also a \u00abcollapse\nin bookings\u00bb (transport, accommodation, visits.) for the Christmas period,\nparticularly in the mountains. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tourmag.com\/Greve-agences-et-TO-constatent-une-baisse-des-reservations-de-50_a101590.html?utm_source=rubrique&amp;utm_medium=newsletter_production&amp;utm_campaign=2019_12_20_newsletter\"><em>TourMag<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Tourism industry and Competitors news\n<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Seto sees a beautiful tourist season\nthis winter<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the last Seto Forum, the Syndicat\ndes Entreprises du Tour op\u00e9rating in France, meeting in Porto, Ren\u00e9 Marc\nChikli, the president of the syndicate presented the figures for the last\ntourist season and the winter 2019 season. After an exceptional fiscal year\n2018, showing the best growth of the decade, many events, including the\npolitical situation in France, have, according to him, reversed the trend.\n\u00abIf the results for the 2018-19 financial year show an overall increase in\noverall activity (+7.0%), package holidays are slightly down, even if tour\noperators have managed to maintain their unit revenue up (+1.5%),\u00bb he said.\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.laquotidienne.fr\/le-seto-voit-une-belle-saison-touristique-cet-hiver\/\"><em>La Quotidienne<\/em><\/a><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Destinations: the tops and flops of\ntour operators in 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After an exceptional fiscal year in\n2018, posting the best growth in the decade, tour operators are seeing a\ndecline in package sales for the fiscal year from November 1, 2018 to October\n31, 2019. This was due to a number of events, starting with the yellow vest\nmovement. Over the last fiscal year, on a comparable basis, TO members of the\nSyndicat des entreprises du tour-operating (Seto) took 6,311,753 customers on\ntrips (+7%), including 3,869,289 package customers (-2.9%). In number of\nmedium-haul customers, Egypt (+97%) and Turkey (+37%) led the growth. The\nCanary Islands, on the other hand, suffered a significant setback, as a result\nof the recovery of historic destinations in the Mediterranean Basin.\n\u00abSouthern Europe is running out of steam on all markets,\u00bb notes\nRen\u00e9-Marc Chikli, President of Seto. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lechotouristique.com\/article\/destinations-les-tops-et-les-flops-en-2019?utm_source=newsletter-1048&amp;utm_medium=Email&amp;utm_campaign=Newsletter\"><em>Echo Touristique<\/em><\/a><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Aviation news<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The \u00abshame of flying\u00bb did\nnot prevent traffic growth (4.2%) in 2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With two weeks to go until the end\nof 2019, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) unsurprisingly\nunveiled a tenth consecutive year of global growth for the sector, announcing a\n4.2% increase in demand and a 3.5% increase in capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the year was more difficult\nthan expected for the world&#8217;s airlines, and the net profit of $28 billion\nannounced last June for the industry as a whole was reduced to $25.9 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the year saw the\n\u00abflygskam\u00bb (the \u00abshame of flying\u00bb) emerge and spread from\nSweden, it&#8217;s hard to know whether it has impacted the growth of the industry,\naccording to Alexander de Juniac, head of Iata. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tourmag.com\/%C2%A0La-honte-de-voler%C2%A0-n-a-pas-empeche-la-progression-42-du-trafic-en-2019_a101536.html?utm_source=article&amp;utm_medium=newsletter_une&amp;utm_campaign=2019_12_17_newsletter\"><em>TourMag<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Tour operators and travel agents\nnews<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Thomas Cook: 99 franchised agencies come to\nHavas Voyages<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Week after week, the cards are redistributed.\nWhile the suspense continues about the Jet tours brand, most Thomas Cook travel\nagencies are starting a new life. 149 of the 174 integrated agencies have been\ntaken over. Havas Voyages inherited 19 of them. In the end, however, the\nMarietton group network has above all taken over a very large number of\nfranchisees who had previously been in the British tour operator&#8217;s colors.\n\u00abWe have signed with 99 travel agencies since the fall of Thomas\nCook,\u00bb Arnaud Abitbol, Franchise Director and Vice President of Marietton\nDevelopment, recently confided to us. \u00abThe vast majority came to us\nspontaneously. \u00bb <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lechotouristique.com\/article\/thomas-cook-99-agences-franchisees-passent-chez-havas-voyages?utm_source=newsletter-1041&amp;utm_medium=Email&amp;utm_campaign=Newsletter\"><em>Echo Touristique<\/em><\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jet tours: buyers had until 20 December to\nsubmit a bid<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The takeover files for the Jet tours brand had\nto be filed in Neuilly-sur-Seine before December 20th at 12:00 am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last straight line for the takeover of\ntrademarks and domain names belonging to Thomas Cook and Jet Marques. The\nreceivers have informed Tour Hebdo that \u00abthe deadline for filing bids is\nset for December 20, 2019 at 12:00 noon\u00bb. The offers had to be filed with\nBTSG2, in Neuilly-sur-Seine, and not with the Commercial Court of Nanterre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On November 28, the judges ruled on the names\nof the buyers of Thomas Cook France, but the Jet tours brand was not among the\nassets taken over since no jobs were saved. It is now the last chance attempt\nto take over the brand of the former TO from Thomas Cook France. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tourhebdo.com\/actualites\/distribution\/jet-tours-les-repreneurs-ont-jusquau-20-decembre-pour-deposer-un-dossier-544657.php\"><em>Tour Hebdo<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Leclerc Voyages passes the 200-agency mark<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leclerc Voyages opens this week its 200th\ntravel agency, in Clisson, in the department of Loire-Atlantique (44). About\neight points of sale have been inaugurated since one year, always in shopping\nmalls of hypermarkets. Created in 1988, Leclerc Voyages generated a turnover of\n600 million euros in 2018, compared with 546 million euros a year earlier.\nHeaded by Bernard Boisson, the dynamic network should post 10% growth in 2019,\nthanks to efficient sales management.
