The figures for the leisure sector speak for themselves:\nthe departure rate reached a record high in 2018 with 66% of French people aged\n15 and over leaving, or 35.5 million French people. \u00abthis 79% level of\ne-tourists forces all players to have an omnichannel presence with\nhigh-performance customer relationship management. Then perceptions are\ndiverse: for 26% of agencies this is a disadvantage, for 30% it is indifferent.\nBut what is becoming interesting is the 44% who perceive this prior online\npreparation as an advantage. They provide an opportunity to demonstrate the\nadded value of the agency to clients who need reassurance after an initial\nphase of autonomous preparation. The resolution also requires protection of customers&#8217; money for\nairlines. With this in mind, the European Parliament now supports the inclusion\nof protection against insolvency and bankruptcy of airlines in the Regulation.\nIn concrete terms, Parliament proposes that, in future, airlines should be\nrequired to secure funds for flights already paid for in advance by customers\nbut not yet carried out via guarantee funds or insurance contracts. Havas Voyages has\nmade a joint offer with four other candidates to take over a large part of\nThomas Cook France&#8217;s travel agencies, says its owner in Le Figaro to be\npublished on Wednesday. According to the daily, there are five of them in total\n&#8211; Havas Voyages, the Sainte Claire group, Sala\u00fcn Holidays, Karavel and Le Vacon\n&#8211; and they would take over about a hundred travel agencies. \u00abWe met to\nmake a stronger offer. It is a solidarity offer, in which we propose to save\nalmost all the jobs,\u00bb Laurent Abitbol, president of the Lyon-based\nMarietton group, owner of Havas Voyages, told Le Figaro. \u00abIf we win, most\nagencies will switch to the Havas brand. We hope to take over the business. We\nare not interested in the Thomas Cook France brand,\u00bb he added. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lemonde.fr\/economie\/article\/2019\/10\/23\/thomas-cook-france-offre-groupee-autour-d-havas-voyages-pour-reprendre-des-agences_6016519_3234.html\"><em>Le Monde<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How travel distribution in France and Spain is\nbooming&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If some TOs are suffering, and if we obviously\nremove the recent industrial accident of the British giant and its French\nsubsidiary Thomas Cook, travel distribution seems to be in great shape. In\nFrance, Havas Voyages, one of the largest integrated networks with some 330 travel\nagencies (and franchisees), is considering increasing its market share through\nindependent sellers. In Spain, two major operators are considering merging to\ncreate a giant in tourism distribution. Jean-Pierre Mas nevertheless seems to\nbelieve in the formula.
