Given the declaration of the State of Emergency decreed by the Spanish Government yesterday, which will last for 15 days, our advice from the Tenerife Tourism Board is the following:
– Before travelling to any of the island’s airports, be it Tenerife North or Tenerife South, check with your airline, tour operator, consulate or on the website of your Foreign Office to ascertain the status of your flight and to ensure that things are operating normally.
– We remind everyone that public transport throughout the country is now operating with restricted measures.
– For those remaining on the island, you are only permitted to move around for the purpose of:
Buying necessities such as food or medicine
Travelling to health facilities
Assistance and care of the elderly, minors, dependents, those with disabilities or vulnerable people
Travel to financial institutions
Due to a force majeure
– The types of movement set out in the previous point, either on foot or using a vehicle, must be carried out alone; with the exception of older citizens, dependents or children.
– All shops and businesses are closed to the public, with the exception of traders selling foodstuffs, basic necessities, pharmaceutical, medical, optical and orthopaedic products, hygiene products, hairdressers, newsagents and petrol stations.
- All museums, archives, libraries and monuments are now closed to the public, as are premises where public performances are held as well as areas of sports and leisure activities in enclosed or open spaces (this includes beaches, parks, leisure areas, etc).
– We at the Tenerife Tourism Board strongly emphasise the need to stay at home or in your accommodation, and to leave only in the cases expressly given.
– Remember that the coronavirus freephone helpline set up by the Canarian Government’s Health Department is 900 112 061. Please only call 112 in the case of an emergency.
