Study: summer holidays represent nearly 40% of French families’ bookings

The lastminute.com website publishes a study on the trends and habits of French families on holiday. Not surprisingly, it is the famous «summer holidays» so eagerly awaited by children that are the most popular with families; the summer months alone account for almost 40% of bookings, with a slight majority for the month of August. For turnkey stays, Tunisia is at the top of the ranking, attracting 32% of lastminute.com customers. Turkey attracts 12% of families, followed by Greece (11%) and the Canary Islands (9%). For tailor-made stays (flight + hotel), Spain comes first, attracting 28% of families, followed by Morocco (12%). Italian cities are also widely acclaimed for tailor-made stays (9%), with Rome and Venice at the top of the list. Air Journal

Summer 2019 holidays: foreign destinations down despite more departures

According to the Protourism Observatory, holidaymakers are favouring France this summer with 1.5 million additional departures, while foreign destinations are down by 200,000 people. The holiday budget is up by €119, or +7% to €1,787 for a family of 4 people for an average of 10.5 days in paid accommodation in France (not with relatives and friends or in a second home) compared to €1,668 last year. The budget abroad reached €2,856 compared to €2,740 last year, i.e. +116€ and +4.2% compared to 2018. TourMag

TripAdvisor provides a digital tool for destinations

TripAdvisor has just released a new tool to enable destinations to boost their presence on the platform and improve traveller engagement. This sponsorship offer is exclusively dedicated to tourism organizations to increase their presence on the world’s largest travel site and, above all, to increase Internet users’ engagement in destination profiles. In test for a few weeks, the new functionality is already bearing fruit. After the analysis of 300 tourism partners, the tool resulted in an overall 25% increase in engagement on their content. Croatia: new record for the number of French tourists

After a record year in 2018 with almost 600,000 French visitors arriving, the Croatian National Tourism Board (CNTB) announced a further increase of more than 5% in the number of French tourists for the first half of 2019 (January to June). Easyjet launches into the postcard

Easyjet launches a promotional operation which consists in publishing on postcards the holiday photos posted on Instagram. As explained by the Buzzman agency that manages this campaign, «it’s a long time ago that postcards were decorated on the fridge or framed in the living room. Yet we’ve never posted so much… but on social networks! Immediately loved but also quickly forgotten, your photos and those of your friends deserve better. Promotions: TUI launches «Book Primo» for winter 2019-2020

For winter holidays, TUI offers discounts of 400€ for clubs and stays and 450€ for tours. Reservations must be made until September 30.
