Russian government plans to introduce ecotax for all tourists

According to Mikhail Degtyarev, the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture, Sport, Tourism and Youth Affairs, ecotax for tourists could be introduced within the next two years in Russia. The Russian government believes that the introduction of the new ecotax will help to fund the budget for nature preservation as well as provide a source for targeted funding.

Kids Travel regulations were changed on June 12

Starting June 12, 2019 some changes were implemented in the travel regulations for minors. According to new rules, if a parent does not give permissions for a child to travel abroad, a special form needs to be provided to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Also, if one of the parents live abroad, the statement will have to be applied through the diplomatic mission or consular office. But If a child or teenager travels with one of the parents, there will be no need for a document.

Israel welcomed 11% more Russian tourists in May

Israel Ministry of Tourism reported 11% increase of Russian tourist flow in May 2019 compared to May 2018. Overall 161 500 Russians came to Israel in 2019. And it’s 6% more than last year’s results. Such a demand can be mostly explained by the low air ticket prices in this tourist season.

 

Italian days in Moscow

An annual promotion for end-consumers and media was held in Moscow for two days on June 8-9 in one of the open air public spaces.

Italian cuisine, music, arts tourism offers were on display in a special Italian Market Place.

The event was organized by ENIT and was attended by 300 000 people this year. Among the exhibitors were the Italian regions, hotels and spa resorts, cruise companies, restaurants and other Italia brands. Italian actors and musicians were performing as headliners. The event was widely covered by key media as the most recommended event in the city over the weekend.

Aeroflot and Vietnam Airlines begin codesharing on both domestic and international routes in the countries. Now the companies provide the travelers with more options for comfortable travelling and new convenient flight connections between several domestic destinations in Russia and Vietnam.

 

flydubai launches flights to Sochi in Russia

Fly Dubai airline began operating the direct flights on the route Dubai-Sochi-Dubai starting from June 7. Boeing-737-700 will be flying on this route during the Spring and Summer seasons. Flights will be operated twice a week on Monday and Friday with the departure from Dubai at 01:15, arrival to Sochi at 04:10 and departure from Sochi at 05:10, arrival to Dubai at 10:00. Flights will be operated with cooperation of Emirates Airlines. The new flights can be considered as another proof of the high potential of the southern region of Russia for outbound tourism.

 

Travelers: Tour operators and travel agents

The leading Russian tour operators cancel charters from Russian regions

Due to the decrease in demand the main Russian tour operators optimize the charter flights from Samara, Rostov and Tatarstan.For example, Pegas Touristik canceled the flights to Jerba, while some charter flights to Crete and Alanya were canceled by Coral Travel. As a result, the regional travel operators are losing their clients, as travelers are missing up to 2 days of the vacation or even forced to cancel it. In such event, the tour operator must fully refund the cost of the tour.
