For a weekend, Air China settles in the Marais

To celebrate the 45th anniversary of the first flight between France and China, Air China inaugurated, on Thursday evening, May 23, 2019, an «ephemeral and immersive» space called Unexpected China.

Located at 18 rue de Turenne, in the heart of Paris’ Marais district, this free venue allows Parisians to discover many facets of China throughout the weekend (from May 24 to 26 included). Many thematic workshops are offered to the public: from tea rituals to Tai-chi, Chinese opera mask painting and calligraphy workshops. TourMag

Record result for Volotea in 2018

Volotea has published the results of its 2018 financial year. The company generated €396.1 million in revenue, an increase of €89 million, representing a 29% increase over the €307.5 million achieved in 2017. Volotea operated 53,400 flights in 2018 (+20%) and carried more than 6.57 million passengers (+36%) with a load factor of 93.1%, 7.7% higher than the previous year. Selectour: a new website and mobile app in 2019

Amadeus signs with Booking.com

Amadeus announces the signing of a «historic» agreement with Booking.com. The inventory of the hotel platform will thus be accessible on the Amadeus Travel Platform. This partnership includes all types of accommodation: hotels, motels and resorts as well as houses, apartments… In the coming months, they will be able to access the new content through various points of sale, including Amadeus Selling Platform Connect and, for business travel bookings, through Amadeus cytric Travel & Expense.

What are the preferred destinations for travellers in Europe?

Que Choisir magazine conducted a major satisfaction survey to establish a list of travellers’ favourite destinations, based on their budget.

In low-cost cities (less than 110 euros per day), Krakow, Seville and Valencia are at the top of the podium, with satisfaction scores ranging from 8.6 to 8.4 out of ten.

In the category of 110 to 130 euros per day, Edinburgh, Vienna and Berlin are the top 3.

Among the expensive cities – more than 130 euros per day – Copenhagen, Florence and London are at the top of the table. Echo Touristique

The Thomas Cook group in great difficulty

After colossal losses in the first half of the year, the British tour operator has to sell its airline and reduce its debt to get its head out of the water. Forced to react, particularly in response to the growing concern of its customers on social networks according to The Financial Times, the tour operator has undertaken several recovery operations. Thomas Cook announced the closure of 21 travel agencies, affecting more than 300 jobs.
