  • Market trends/Destination news: the French hoteliers’ stunt

Hotels in Cap d’Agde have set their rooms at 1000 euros per night on Booking, to encourage customers to turn away from the platform. These institutions are indeed dissatisfied with the practices of the global giant, even if they cannot do without them. So to hit the table hard, their managers blew up their prices on the platform, which became the leading merchant in terms of audience in France. Objective: to make a lasting impression and encourage consumers to go live. On hotel sites, prices have of course not changed. Echo Touristique

Hotels: customers give more importance to ratings than to the brand

Sites for e-commerce, catering, medical and legal services, nothing escapes customer opinions… Everywhere now, it is possible to submit or consult notes in order to assess the «quality» of an establishment remotely. So much so that 88% of Internet users rely on the comments published on the net before finalizing a purchase. Today in the tourism sector, customer ratings have become essential in the choice of hotel, for example, almost as much as the price. This is shown by a recent study conducted by Expedia Group. The Louvre in the colours of the Dominican Republic

To communicate and promote the destination in the spring, OT chose this original advertising format: a giant poster 30 metres long by 19 metres wide installed throughout April on one of the Louvre’s exterior facades. The image is visible from several angles, and in particular from the banks of the Seine, a privileged place for Parisians and tourists when the weather arrives. Quotidien du Tourisme

As announced by DéplacementsPros last Tuesday, Havas Voyages, a specialist in small and medium-sized businesses, is the partner network in France. A logical choice, since the Certarès fund owns 49% of the Marietton group, owner of the French network, and Travel Leaders Group, a specialist in business travel, leisure and franchising. «The Marietton Développement group integrates exclusively for France and Switzerland the new international Travel Leaders network», confirms a press release from the French group.
