In July, «mixed results» in travel agencies
According to the Orchestra / Gestour barometer conducted for Travel Companies, in July, agencies
recorded a 3% drop in departures but this was offset by a 7% increase in bookings.
The Top 3 medium–‐haul destinations are Spain, Greece and Italy. Spain suffered in July with a 9% drop
in the number of departures while Tunisia continued its recovery both in terms of departures (+36%)
and reservations (+25%). Turkey and Egypt are also rising.
The Top 3 long–‐haul destinations are the United States, Canada and Thailand. However, these three
destinations are down compared to July 2017, while China, fourth, is up 24%. Also a craze for Mexico,
departure as a reservation has be noticed.

French’s ten favorite destinations in September
The 1st of September records the most bookings. They are then carried out the first week then the
third week of September. Concerning duration: 40% of bookings are for short stays, perhaps that
Julytists and Augusters hide there to prolong their summer. Then the stays from 8 to 14 days (27%) are
requested; 17% of the reservations concern stays of 21 days and + and finally 16% of the reservations
are stays of 1 week. The top 3 is composed of:

Mauritius launches «no passport» programme for resident
Mauritius has introduced a temporary measure allowing French nationals residing in Reunion Island to
travel to Mauritius with their national identity card without the need to present a passport. This
measure is only valid from August 16th to October 10th 2018

Oman Air extends its codeshare with Lufthansa
Through this expanded code–‐share agreement, passengers can now travel on Oman Air flights from
Muscat International Airport to Madrid, Brussels, Vienna and Prague from Lufthansa hubs in Frankfurt
and Munich. The agreement offers travellers better connectivity and a wide range of services between
Muscat and Europe. This agreement is the latest step in the development of links between Oman Air
and Lufthansa.

Amsterdam Schiphol: strike notice for September 4th
Two unions (FNV and CNV) have announced a 24–‐hour strike at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. A
movement that could affect the trip of over 200,000 passengers. Requests from the security personnel
have been running since June 30th, who have used so far a beaded strike system, where people stop
working for 15 minutes, up to 5 times a day.

FTI Voyages launches its 4 new winter 2018/19 brochures. One of this year’ major feature is The Club
FTI Privilège. Three clubs open their doors from November 1st 2018: the Club FTI Privilège LABRANDA

The tour operator has delivered its six new brochures that make up its redesigned offer. The general
brochure presents tours and stays around the world with a small selection of the products presented

For its first anniversary, Lidl dump prices to the Caribbean
From September 11, the brand joins forces with the tour operator Boomerang to market a 9 day/7
night stay in the Dominican Republic. Lidl has also partnered with MSC and suggests two cruises aboard
the MSC Opera from Paris, starting at 999 euros per person in full board (departure from November
to February). These two 9 day/7 night offers, «The Golden Sea of Mexico» (Havana, Belize, Roatan
Island in Honduras, Cozumel in Mexico) and «From Jamaica to the Cayman Islands» (Havana, Jamaica,
